A wooden 'Jahazi' dhow called the Insha'allah, moored in the Indian ocean off an island full of strange and wonderful baobab trees. They hold treehouses in their branches and at night, held safely in their arms, I slept so deeply lulled by the waves. On board I wondered at her adventures, she has plied the oceans carrying treasures and secrets for many a year...what stories she could tell - eliza

I love this photo I snapped of my friend Jillian in the Northern Cascade mountains.  The heart of the matter is that friendship is amazingly, wonderfully mysterious and I love how it rows me away from small melancholies with a dazzling measure of self forgetting.  Friends are so worth fighting for.  On this trip I made a vow to myself to be a better friend and show up unconditionally with a brave and good heart for my friends ~ to give space for them to blossom and encourage them to reach for the highest manifestation of their soul's being in the process.  ~ madelyn ~
